I started using Wegovy expecting my experience to look like the transformation stories I had seen online. Instead, my progress felt uneven, and I didn’t see the changes I had imagined. I kept comparing myself with people I didn’t know and began to feel discouraged. It was hard to stay confident when posts made progress look simple and immediate. I also felt pressure from family members who expected visible changes after hearing those stories. I spoke with my clinician about what was realistic for my situation, which helped me rethink my expectations. Still, I wish I had understood sooner that other people’s stories were not a reliable guide to what my experience with Wegovy would be like.
Overall, the gap between what I expected and what I experienced left me disappointed and frustrated. I blamed myself, even though my progress was personal and did not need to match anyone else’s.
