The first part of my experience felt more difficult than I had pictured. I was trying to follow my care plan while also paying attention to how I felt, and I found that adjustment stressful. I worried about whether changes I noticed were expected for me or something I should discuss.
That uncertainty made me self-conscious. I didn’t want to sound overly worried, so I waited before bringing up questions. Meanwhile, I spent too much time reading personal accounts online, which left me comparing experiences that might not have been alike.
Eventually, I contacted my clinician and explained what was bothering me. I felt better having a direct conversation, but I regret waiting. My frustration came from not knowing how to interpret my own experience and feeling that I had to figure it out alone. I would have appreciated a clearer plan for checking in and raising concerns from the beginning.
