I’m Rachel Bennett, 33, and when I decided to try Wegovy for weight management, I thought I was making a positive change in my life. I had a demanding job, two children, and a busy household, but I was ready to make time for my health goals.

I knew that Wegovy wasn’t a quick solution and that individual experiences could vary. What I hadn’t expected was how difficult it would become to balance my treatment experience with everything else happening in my life.

For me, the biggest disappointment wasn’t about the number on the scale. It was about feeling constantly tired, struggling with uncomfortable nights, and losing the energy I needed for my everyday responsibilities.

When a Health Decision Began Affecting My Evenings

My days were already packed with work calls, school pickups, preparing dinner, and household responsibilities.

I had hoped Wegovy would fit into my existing schedule without requiring major changes.

But after beginning treatment, I started noticing that evenings were becoming uncomfortable.

I sometimes experienced indigestion and an unpleasant feeling of fullness after dinner. Even when I ate smaller portions, I occasionally felt uncomfortable when lying down.

Instead of relaxing at the end of a long day, I found myself paying attention to how my stomach felt.

I began to dread the evenings because I wasn’t sure whether I would feel comfortable enough to rest.

2 A.M. Became My Least Favorite Time

Sleep had always been important to me, especially because my mornings started early.

During this fictional experience, digestive discomfort sometimes interrupted my sleep.

There were nights when I woke up feeling bloated or uncomfortable. Other nights, I struggled to settle down because of indigestion.

Wegovy is not established as a direct cause of insomnia, but gastrointestinal symptoms can interfere with rest for some individuals.

For me, the interrupted nights gradually became one of the most frustrating parts of the experience.

I wasn’t expecting every night to be perfect. I simply wanted to wake up feeling rested enough to manage the next day.

Coffee Couldn’t Fix My Exhausting Mornings

The consequences of those difficult nights followed me into the morning.

I often woke up feeling tired and unmotivated. Getting the children ready for school felt more demanding, and concentrating on work required extra effort.

I initially blamed my busy schedule.

But after noticing that the fatigue often followed nights of digestive discomfort, I began wondering whether my treatment experience was contributing to the problem.

I discussed these symptoms with my healthcare provider rather than assuming Wegovy was the only possible explanation.

Still, the situation was frustrating. I had started treatment to work toward a personal health goal, not to feel overwhelmed by my regular responsibilities.

The Small Things I Started Missing

One Saturday morning, my children wanted to go to the park.

Normally, I would have been excited to spend time outside with them. That morning, however, I felt tired after another uncomfortable night.

I went along, but I didn’t have the energy I usually brought to family activities.

That moment stayed with me.

It wasn’t a dramatic medical event or a major disruption. It was simply realizing that I wasn’t enjoying ordinary moments the way I wanted to.

I also found myself declining evening plans and going to bed earlier, hoping I would feel better the following morning.

These small changes gradually made me question whether the treatment experience was fitting into my life.

My Calendar Was Full of Questions

As the weeks continued, I started keeping notes about my symptoms.

I recorded when I experienced digestive discomfort, what I had eaten, how I slept, and how I felt the next morning.

I wanted to identify patterns and provide useful information during my follow-up appointments.

But keeping track of everything became another responsibility in an already busy schedule.

I had questions about whether my symptoms were temporary, whether changes to my routine might help, and how my clinician would determine whether the treatment remained suitable.

I appreciated having the opportunity to discuss those concerns, but I was disappointed that my experience required so much attention.

The Conversation That Changed My Perspective

Eventually, I scheduled a follow-up appointment specifically to discuss the difficulties I was experiencing.

Rather than focusing only on my weight management progress, I explained how my sleep, energy, and daily activities had been affected.

That conversation helped me recognize that evaluating a treatment involves more than monitoring weight.

My healthcare provider and I discussed the symptoms, my overall health, and whether adjustments or alternative approaches should be considered.

I realized that continuing a treatment simply because I had already invested time in it wasn’t the right way to evaluate my situation.

What I Would Do Differently

If I were making the decision again, I would approach the process with a different set of questions.

I would want to understand:

  • How common digestive symptoms are during treatment.
  • What steps to take if discomfort affects sleep or daily activities.
  • When persistent symptoms should be reported.
  • How treatment response and tolerability are evaluated.
  • What options might be available if the experience becomes difficult to manage.

I would also pay closer attention to how I felt throughout the process rather than focusing exclusively on my original weight management expectations.

The Part of My Wegovy Journey I Didn’t Expect

When I first considered Wegovy, I imagined that the biggest challenge would be staying consistent with a new routine.

Instead, I found myself dealing with uncomfortable evenings, interrupted sleep, and mornings when I struggled to feel like myself.

The experience affected my confidence in the treatment and made me reconsider what I needed from a weight management plan.

I know that Wegovy may be appropriate for many people and that not everyone experiences the same difficulties.

But in my case, the treatment journey became more demanding than I had anticipated.

Would I Make the Same Choice Again?

If someone asked me whether I was satisfied with my Wegovy experience, my answer would be no.

Not because I expected an effortless journey, but because the challenges affected parts of my life that mattered deeply to me.

I wanted to focus on my health without constantly worrying about uncomfortable evenings or feeling exhausted the next morning.

My experience taught me that personal comfort, daily responsibilities, and quality of life deserve attention when evaluating a weight management treatment.

For me, Wegovy was not the experience I had hoped for, and that disappointment became an important part of deciding what to discuss with my healthcare provider next.
